Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Luke 17:15
One of them, when he saw he was healed, came back, praising God in a loud voice.
O-bservation:
This is the story of ten lepers who came to Jesus and, from a distance, cried out, evidently in unison, with a loud voice, “Jesus, Master, have pity on us!” Jesus said to them, “Go show yourselves to the priest.” Only the priests in those days could determine if a person had leprosy and if that person was free from leprosy. So as they went, they were healed. In the passage above, the Bible says ONE of them came back and thanked the Lord in praise.
A-pplication:
The Bible tells us that this man was a Samaritan. To Jewish folks, Samaritans were considered foreigners. Jesus saw the man and heard him and said, “Weren’t there ten who asked to be healed, and “Only One,” has returned to say thanks, and he’s a foreigner?” You can almost hear the Lord saying, “Are you kidding me?” Having leprosy on that day was like being diagnosed with fourth-stage cancer. Yet nine men went about their ways as if nothing had happened to them. The truth is, we’re all gonna die. Many of us get sick and get well along the way, but in the end, we die. It’s my encouragement to you this AM that along the way when we do get healed, we need to say thank you to the Lord and praise his name. A thankful heart even makes the sick days better.
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
Truly this AM, I’m so very thankful for good health, along with the many other blessings you have bestowed upon me. Those days I have been sick, I’ve always prayed for healing, and here I am today in good health. I really have learned that a grateful heart even makes the sick days better. Amen
