Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

 

S-cripture:

Luke 11:46
Jesus replied, “And you experts in the law, woe to you, because you load people down with burdens they can hardly carry, and you yourselves will not lift one finger to help them.

 

O-bservation:

Jesus was the best encourager, healer, lover of people, and raiser from the dead the world has ever known, but don’t think for a second that he didn’t confront people with the truth. Here he looks into the face of some of the teachers of the law and just hammered them with his words. He told them that because of their laws and upholding of their laws, they had put such a heavy load on the people that it was almost unbearable. Then he said, You who do this won’t even lift one finger to help them, do what you command them to do.

 

A-pplication:

It’s always been my way of leading by showing and doing. In other words, “Let’s All Carry Our Own Load First.” It should never be, “Do as I say,” instead, it should always be, “Do as I do!” What does it matter if we’re all good “traffic cops,” but we’re lousy “doers.” I find so many people who are worn out from all the laws and orders and people up in the office types, sending more work orders down the line, that the common man and woman have so much on their backs that they’re about to break. Oh, I know we’ve moved into the world of technology, but the world keeps going because of common hard-working people. Those who think they’re better than others have to start carrying their own loads as well. Everybody matters on this planet. Like I said, “Let’s All Carry Our Own Load First.” If not, Jesus will soon be knocking on your door.

 

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

Help me as never before to lead by doing. I know because of the people you have called me to serve that I have to give directives but never let me tell someone to do something that I haven’t already done. Most of all, help me to show them how to do it. Amen
