Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Deuteronomy 17:19

It is to be with him, and he is to read it all the days of his life so that he may learn to revere the Lord his God and follow carefully all the words of this law and these decrees.

O-bservation:

These were the words of God, through Moses, His servant, concerning the future kings of Israel. Before Israel had a king, God knew that they would cry out for one because the other nations ruled in that manner. God says in the previous verse that when the king takes the throne of Israel, he must personally write out the law by his own hand, and he must keep it with him daily to rule in a humble manner pleasing to the Lord.

A-pplication:

Somehow this directive from the Lord sounds like He had one and only one king in mind who would keep this command. That would be David. The Bible says David was a man after God’s own heart. David writes, “He keeps God’s word in his heart that he might not sin against the Lord” (Ps. 119:11). But so many other times, David speaks of the fact that he loves the laws of God. Over and over, we read this. Yes, David failed at times. And yes, he paid for his sin. But ultimately, he loved God and loved God’s Word. How was it that he was so enamored with the Word of God? I believe it’s because he was THE ONE KING who kept this word constantly with him. What about you today? Are you a modern-day David? Of course, I know women read this daily post, but I’m asking do you and I have the heart of King David? Are we lost without the Lord? Do we hunger and thirst for righteousness? Is God’s word our daily bread? My word this AM is to “Keep It With You!”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

I am a man who longs to hide Your Word in my heart. I have failed many times, but it’s not in my conscious thought patterns to fail you. I want You to be my king. I want to follow Your Word. Help me to keep Your Word With Me! Amen
