Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Isaiah 27:13
And in that day a great trumpet will sound. Those who were perishing in Assyria and those who were exiled in Egypt will come and worship the Lord on the holy mountain in Jerusalem.
O-bservation:
When Jeroboam split the nation of Israel and took the ten northern tribes, they mostly ended up in Assyria and Egypt, and a number of the remaining two tribes making up Judah also ended up there. Through the course of history, Isaiah saw an eventual return of the people of God to the land of Israel. Some of this happened two hundred years into the future when Cyrus, the Persian king, delivered the people of Judah from the hands of the Babylonians. Cyrus then gave them a written letter in order for them to return to Jerusalem. However, this prophecy of Isaiah also reached well into the future to 1948, when the land of Israel began its complete restoration to its original land of promise. That’s when we saw “Israel Restored.”
A-pplication:
How many times have you felt like your life was falling apart? It’s happened to me several times over my years of living. One thing I have never faced is my nation being crushed by foreign invaders and all of us being dispersed to other lands. I have been quite fortunate to have never experienced that. But, that was not true for the people of Israel. Not only did some of them feel like their lives were falling apart, but they all knew that through their years of history, much of it was spent in wandering from one place to another. But God kept his promise to this little group of people, and in time we all saw “Israel Restored.” God is also concerned for you to feel whole this AM! We’re living in a time when for many, it feels as if life is going every which way but loose. With God’s help today, you can be restored. Every part of you can come under the loving hand of Jesus, and you can be at peace. Let him restore you today.
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
This AM, I’m grateful that you have put me back together on several occasions throughout my life. Your ability to restore people to wholeness is unmatched. Today, once again, I yield my life to you so that you can order my steps. Amen
