Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Isaiah 34:11b
God will stretch out over Edom the measuring line of chaos and the plumb line of desolation.
O-bservation:
The prophet Isaiah began with a prophecy against the nations of the world in verse one but zeroed in on Edom here in verse eleven. He said, “I’m going to stretch out the measuring line of chaos and the plumb line of desolation.” These were architectural terms for building structures of any kind in those days. Yet God said, I will use these articles to mark out territories for complete destruction.
A-pplication:
I almost titled this short devotional, “An Architectural Design For Destruction.” Yet what God was saying through his prophet here was simply, “I’m Done With Rebels.” That’s right! At that time in history, there was really a march of rebellion against the Lord that was pervasive. Israel was part of it, and of course, all of the heathen nations as well, and Isaiah could see the future because of his God-given gift. Here’s what is important to note today. What kind of life are you and I living? I want to be the man the Lord wants me to be. Is that the way you feel as well? You see, I really believe as I read my Bible that a day of reckoning is coming to this nation. I mean that. Could we be on the brink of God saying again, “I’m Done With Rebels?” Well, the time is ripe based upon the sin of our nation, yet I pray God holds back his hand of wrath to see more people come to Jesus.
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
Please, I’ve asked this for years; please give us a little more time to tell people about you. We need more time. Way too many are not ready to meet the Lord. But there’s a bunch of us who are willing to keep going to those in need. Help us, I pray! Amen
