Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Deuteronomy 3:26

But because of you the Lord was angry with me and would not listen to me. “That is enough,” the Lord said. “Do not speak to me anymore about this matter.”

O-bservation:

Moses was scolding the Israelites for murmuring and complaining earlier in their journey out of Egypt. He was basically saying, “If It Wasn’t For You, I wouldn’t have sinned. Because of you, I won’t be allowed to enter the promised land.”

A-pplication:

So much of this sounds like today. We tend to complain when we sin or make a mistake, saying, “If it wasn’t for so and so, I would have never done that.” But the truth is every decision we make is on us. It’s not on someone else. That person didn’t make me swear. I swore myself! One person doesn’t make another commit adultery. They make that choice! What am I saying here? I’m saying that accountability is something we must decide we’ll be and do and stop the blame game. Today, older and more mature adults sound like little kids. She made me do it. He made me do it. That’s what Moses was saying. He was saying, “If It Wasn’t For You, I would never have sinned.” But here’s another way of looking at it. Moses could have said, “If It Wasn’t For You, I would never have been known as the greatest earthly leader of all time.” One statement promotes blame. The other statement promotes gratefulness.

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

If it wasn’t for you, I would never have experienced eternal life. I’m so grateful. Amen
