He’s Still Amazing

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

Mark 12:17

Then Jesus said to them, “Give back to Caesar what is Caesar’s and to God what is God’s.” And they were amazed at him.

This story’s origination had to do with the Pharisees and other Roman loyalists wanting to trap Jesus in His words. They brought the question to Jesus concerning paying the imperial tax to Caesar. Jesus showed them a denarius (a coin) and said since Caesar’s face is on it, pay what he is demanding and give to God what He deserves. This amazed the Pharisees, and they had no comeback.

This kind of attack on Jesus is still happening today in the lives of those who follow Him. Buddha gets respect. Mohammed gets respect. Jesus? Not so much. There is an all-out, worldwide attack on Jesus even today. The disrespect “Jesus Followers” are now receiving in my country is alarming. Why is there such a need in people to discredit Jesus? They killed Him in His day, and they have killed “Jesus Followers” through the centuries. I believe it’s because of the AMAZING factor. He AMAZED the Pharisees in this verse and “He’s Still Amazing” people today. How is it that Jesus is AMAZING? He’s GOD, that’s why! When you walk on this planet and claim to be God, and you can deliver on your claims as in, raise the dead, open blinded eyes and deaf ears, and cause the lame to walk, it’s AMAZING! But you may not be applauded in the end. However, to all who do receive Him, to those who believe in His name, He gives the right to become children of God. Because He’s alive today and “He’s Still Amazing!”

Dear Jesus,

I’m grateful to be called a Christian. It’s my honor to be one of Your many followers. You amazed me as a young man, and that’s why I yielded my life once and for all to Your total service. AND “You’re Still Amazing!” Amen
