S. O. A. P.
Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Romans 14:19
Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification.
O-bservation:
As St. Paul began to conclude his letter to the church at Rome, he inserts perhaps his most ardent plea. He encouraged the people of God to be “Holy Arbitrators!”
A-pplication:
When St. Paul said, “MAKE EVERY EFFORT to do what leads to peace,” he was passionately calling us to stand in the gap between opposing forces and MAKE PEACE. It is easy to carry placards and march in favor or opposition to a certain “rousing issue” of the day. However, it takes courage and, in some cases, shear bravery to stand in between two opposing forces and, through mutual edification, make peace happen. When we give mutual edification, we are finding certain qualities to praise in each side of the opposing forces. This calms the angst on each side and opens the door for the possibility of peace to happen. Whether it happens or not, we are called to be “Holy Arbitrators.”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
With Your help this AM, I want to be a PEACEMAKER. But please let PEACE happen in me first. Amen
