Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Psalm 22:1
My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from saving me, so far from my cries of anguish?
O-bservation:
This prayer is prophetic. Long before Jesus died on the cross, King David uttered a prayer that Jesus used while hanging on the cross on Good Friday, in torture. “My God, my God, why have You forsaken me?” David himself felt, at that time in history, as though he had no earthly friends. He also felt like everyone had forsaken him. “Have You Ever Felt Forsaken?”
A-pplication:
Almost a year has passed since quarantine, caused by the pandemic, was enacted. Other than essential workers and small business owners who felt it necessary to risk going to work to keep their businesses going, few others have ventured into society. That alone has left many feeling helpless and alienated from friends and family. Aloneness was never God’s intention for humankind. Yet this season, many of us are living separated from friends and family. This, in turn, has caused many to question who they are. For some, very quickly, life has become an adventure in unreality. Consequently, many have asked the Lord, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” But let me make it very clear, my friend, if you may be wondering whether God has forsaken you, remember the words of the writer of Hebrews when he said of our great God, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you!” (13:5b). You’re NOT losing your mind, and you have NOT been forsaken. We will get through this by the grace of God!
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
This AM, I’m so blessed to have this confidence that You are right here with me as I pray. I’m so blessed that You have never left me or forsaken me. Please, this AM, give my friend this same confidence I pray. Amen
