Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Genesis 17:21
But my covenant I will establish with Isaac, whom Sarah will bear to you by this time next year.
O-bservation:
Abraham was a hundred years of age, and he was troubled about his promised son Isaac, who was not yet born. He was complaining that Ishmael, a child he’d had separate from God’s will, would live under God’s blessing too. So God told Abraham, “I will bless Ishmael, but the covenant will be with Isaac, whom Sarah your wife will bear to you about this time next year.”
A-pplication:
Never doubt God’s promise to you. Abraham was a hundred, and his wife Sarah was either ninety years old or just this side of it. That means when Isaac, the promised child, was born to Abraham and Sarah, Abraham was a hundred years of age, and Sarah was ninety years of age! You might be thinking, “that’s impossible,” because that’s what I’m thinking while I’m writing. I only have one thing to say to that. “God’s Promises Are Kept!”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
I’m never ever going to doubt you again. Not that I have, for as long as I can remember, but this story always gets me. If God can make a hundred-year-old man get hot for his ninety-year-old wife and have a child by her, anything is POSSIBLE! Don’t give up! God’s got YOU! Amen
