Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Ecclesiastes 12:13
Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the duty of all mankind.
O-bservation:
Solomon was the King over Israel. As you may already know, the Jewish people in the Old Testament were God’s chosen people. Here the King over God’s chosen people said they were to fear God and keep his commandments because this was the duty of not just the chosen people of God but for all mankind. So this passage is speaking to us right now about the issue of “Fearing God.”
A-pplication:
When my father taught me to fear God, he was talking about real fear. He used to tell me, “Son, if you would only understand the greatness and vastness of our Almighty God, you would actually tremble at the mention of his name.” If he saw me doing something that wasn’t right, he’d grab me and say, “Son, your Heavenly Father is watching you.” Wow! My father had a way of passing the fear he had for his Maker onto me. I believe we have lost that as a nation and as a world. I can’t speak for other traditions of faith, but for Christianity, we appear to be in trouble. We have raised up a generation that does not fear the Lord. In fact, I don’t believe the present generation of young adults like God. They detest his STANDARDS. “Fearing God” is not a part of their daily practice. I hope and pray that God would once again reveal the power of Jesus, his Son, to break down satanic strongholds and set us free to fear his name once again.
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
This AM, I pray that you would break down the strongholds of Satan across this nation and the world. Set us free as a people who actually know right from wrong. Begin the work in me and let it spread to others around me I pray. Please do not leave us in this mess of self-promotion and a disregard for the laws of heaven. Amen
