Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Psalm 41:9
Even my close friend, someone I trusted, one who shared my bread, has turned against me.
O-bservation:
David was in a tough position when he prayed this prayer. It was as if all his enemies were coming against him at once. There came the point where even his close friend had turned against him. David said this person was someone he had trusted. Later he prayed for God’s mercy and found his security in the Lord.
A-pplication:
I’m sure, like me, you have had times when “Even Your Close Friends Will Fail You.” We live in times when people follow the crowd. We now have “crowdfunding” for financial enterprises, which was unheard of just a few years back. The “Crowd,” whoever they are, can begin a narrative that can cancel your influence in a matter of days or even less. That’s what had happened to King David. Yet he never expected that even his close friend would betray him. Perhaps something this terrible has happened to you. Let me be quick to remind you this AM, Jesus will never betray you. He is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. Why not, let’s you and I turn to Him in prayer right now.
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
My friend and I are truly grateful that You remain our closest friend this AM. Yes, it’s true that even our closest friends have failed us in the past. But You have never failed us. With all our hearts this AM, we turn away from the crowd and bow at Your feet in humble thanks. Amen
