S-cripture:

1 Corinthians 15:14

And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith.

O-bservation:

In Paul’s day, there were those who believed there was no resurrection from the dead. But Paul argued, “If there is no resurrection from the dead, not even Christ is risen. If Christ hasn’t risen from the dead, our preaching is of no value, and neither is your faith!”

A-pplication:

St. Paul made such a fantastic argument for the resurrection from the dead in this chapter that he could have said at the end, “If you’re wondering whether or not you will be raised from the dead at the coming of the Lord, Don’t Even Think About It!” Everything hinges on Jesus’ resurrection from the dead. The reason most of the disciples died martyr’s deaths was because they had witnessed the resurrection of Jesus themselves. When that happened, followed by His ascension into heaven, they knew everything He had said and taught was real. They were willing to die for their Christian faith. The truth is, Jesus is coming soon. Those that have died in Christ will be raised from the dead, and the rest of us will be caught up together to meet the Lord.

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

This AM, I’m reminded more than ever that Your coming is happening quicker than many people believe. Help me live and preach in such a way that people will believe. Amen
