Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Jeremiah 41:2
Ishmael, son of Nethaniah, and the ten men who were with him struck down Gedaliah son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, with the sword, killing the one whom the king of Babylon had appointed as governor over the land.

O-bservation:

Several months earlier, Nebuchadnezzar had destroyed Jerusalem and burned down the temple of God. He placed Gedaliah as governor over Jerusalem. Ishmael was aligned with Baalis the King of the Ammonites and many think Baalis was wanting to annex Jerusalem. Another warrior Johanan had warned Gedaliah that Ismael was coming to kill him, but Gedaliah refused to believe Johanan. Sure enough, Gedaliah hosted Ishmael and his ten men for a lavish dinner, and during that time Ismael rose up and slaughtered Gedaliah the governor, and his associates as well as the Babylonian soldiers who were with him.

A-pplication:

Just like the Pharaoh that God spoke of in this chapter was destroyed by the Babylonians in time, destruction will come to anyone who exalts themselves above the Lord God Almighty. God loves us all, but there is a limit to his patience when it comes to those who would try and exalt themselves above the Lord. Whether it’s a world leader or a local union boss, a man or woman must be careful as to how they portray themselves in relationship to God Almighty. There are those who can do a lot, but there is NOTHING God cannot do. The personhood of God Almighty is beyond finding out. St Peter said the only way for us to approach God is to “Humble ourselves under Gods might hand!” (1 Peter 5:6) That includes, “Even You And Even Me.”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

This AM I humble myself before you and say, “Speak Lord for your servant is listening.” I never want to operate as if I don’t need you in my life every second of the day. May CALAMITY never come my way. Amen
