Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Genesis 30:24
She named him Joseph, and said, “May the Lord add to me another son.”
O-bservation:
Rachel was Jacob’s longed-for wife. Yet she was childless. Her older sister Leah, who was given to Jacob without him knowing it by his father-in-law Laban, was not beautiful. However, she was fruitful in her ability to produce offspring for Jacob. Finally, after years of longing, Rachel had a son and named him Joseph. This young man became “A True Servant Leader.”
A-pplication:
Joseph’s brothers were jealous of him as he was his father’s favorite. In time, they sold him into slavery in Egypt. There he served his master, Potiphar, an Egyptian army commander. He was placed in charge of Potiphar’s household, and it flourished. He was falsely accused by Potiphar’s wife and was then thrown into prison, where the prison warden put Joseph over all the other prisoners because of his amazing servant leadership. In time, he was elevated from prison to the second-highest position in all of Egypt under the Pharaoh. Because of his wisdom and his God-given ability to serve others, Joseph saved the Egyptian people and his own family from certain starvation. Joseph was “A True Servant Leader.” What about you today? Are you living to be served, or are you living to serve? My wife has always said, “If you’re too BIG to serve then you’re too SMALL to lead.” Be like Joseph, “A True Servant Leader.”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
You told us in Your word that You didn’t come to this earth to be served but to serve and commit Yourself to the cross so we might be saved. Help me be like You, my Lord. Amen
