S-cripture:

Proverbs 29:4
By justice a king gives a country stability, but those who are greedy for bribes tear it down.

O-bservation:

Not all national leaders are good, and not all national leaders are corrupt. Here the man of wisdom tells us that the king who loves justice creates stability for that nation. Conversely, he tells us that those national leaders who are greedy for a bribe help to tear a nation down. My take on this passage is simply, “Woe To The Friends Of Evil Lobbyists.”

A-pplication:

Sometimes men and women who are in the nation’s power centers where elected officials make rules are there to lobby for something good to happen. But the usual case means that whatever the righteous leader of the nation is trying to do, there are many, many more evil lobbyists who are trying to shame the leader through a wrong decision and thereby negating the work of the righteous lobbyists. In my nation, the two-year congressmen and six-year senators are fighting off the push for legislation. But while they’re fighting them off, they still oftentimes fall prey to bribes. The more bribes that are being accepted, the greater the fall from God’s grace that nation will experience. That’s why we must all heed the warning, “Woe To The Friends Of Evil Lobbyists.

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

I need you more than ever on this new day. But my nation needs you more too. We are at a place where negativism and doubt appear to be winning. Lord, I pray this AM that righteousness will prevail in our nation. Amen
