The Sinner Who Wasn’t Sorry

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Exodus 10:17
Now forgive my sin once more and pray to the Lord your God to take this deadly plague away from me.

O-bservation:

These are the words of the Pharaoh of Egypt to Moses and his brother Aaron were being used of God to wrest the people of Israel from his control. This was now the eighth plague that God had brought upon Egypt as punishment for what they had done to God’s people. Finally, like had happened the previous seven plagues, Pharaoh said, “I beg you, I have sinned against your God and you, please ask your God to stop this plague of locusts!” So Moses did, but Pharaoh never changed his ways. You could say he was “The Sinner Who Wasn’t Sorry.”

A-pplication:

How many times have you had a friend or possibly even a family member who was addicted to bad behavior? It seems like they said a thousand times that they had messed up and needed help, but when you got the person help they never changed. I know I’ve dealt with hundreds of similar situations in my life. What is it that keeps them chained, so to speak? I believe that true repentance is about regretful or SORRY for what you have done. But the Pharaoh in this story wasn’t. Neither are most of the people who keep returning to their chains. Sometimes there’s a host of people who are ready to help but help is never received because, they’re just like, “The Sinner Who Wasn’t Sorry,” mentioned in this bible story.

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

I’m glad that many years ago, I finally saw the error of my ways and was truly repentant and SORRY in my heart. With your help, I was able to put days between the old chains and my new life. In time I was completely free of bad behavior. All because of you! Amen
