The Need For FATHERING

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

1 Corinthians 4:15

Even if you had ten thousand guardians in Christ, you do not have many fathers, for in Christ Jesus I became your father through the gospel.

O-bservation:

The Apostle Paul talked about The Need For FATHERING amongst the people of God. He told the young church at Corinth that even though they might have ten thousand folks watching over them, they still lacked FATHERS.

A-pplication:

What’s the difference between a guardian and a father? I believe a father is responsible for a minimum of four qualities in the raising of his children. At least I’ll give you what I saw it to be as a father. First, a father is a MODEL of how a man is supposed to operate biblically. Second, a father is there to PROTECT his children from whatever may come their way that would hinder their growth physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Third, a father is there to bring DISCIPLINE to a child who steps out of the biblical pattern the father lays down for his children to follow. And fourth, a father is there to APPLAUD his children. That means in whatever field they want to elevate their calling. He is their promoter, their cheerleader, their approver, and their pray-er. The father who will step up and be the man God has called him to be will, in time, be proof of The Need For FATHERING.

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

I want to be a good father now that I’m a grandfather as much as I did when we were expecting our first child. Help me not fail in this most important of a man’s tasks on this earth. Amen
