S-cripture:
Song Of Songs 5:10
My beloved is radiant and ruddy, outstanding among ten thousand.
O-bservation:
Once again, in this Song of Songs, continual saga of love, we find that as Solomon’s lover is searching for him in the night, she reports to watchmen who have mistreated her that her beloved is a radiant man with a ruddy complexion, yet he is indeed, “The Fairest Of Ten Thousand.” Theologians agree that this entire book is an allegory of Christ’s pursuit of us.
A-pplication:
In all my years of researching and studying the Word of God, this is by far the most difficult book to figure out. The very fact that it made the holy canon of the Bible has forced theologians everywhere to rush to translate what is happening in these either dreams or actual events. Most evangelical theologians believe this to be God pursuing his beloved Israelites and, for sure, Jesus pursuing his church. Either way, I love this description of Christ being “The Fairest Of Ten Thousand.” When you try to describe Jesus, it’s quite difficult to describe who he is and what he’s like and what he’s done for me. But on that day, this description was both endearing and glorious all at the same time. These many years later, Jesus still remains, “The Fairest Of Ten Thousand!”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
You are my all in all. No matter the times I’ve failed you, even then, you have reached down and picked me up and hurried me on my way in a loving way. I can never thank you enough. Like the old song goes, you are still, “The Fairest Of Ten Thousand,” to my soul. Amen
