S. O. A. P.
Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Habakkuk 3:13
You came out to deliver your people, to save your anointed one. You crushed the leader of the land of wickedness, you stripped him from head to foot.
O-bservation:
This prophecy by Habakkuk is looked upon by theologians as a prophecy of not just one occasion but for many occasions where God stepped in over the centuries of time to intervene on his peoples’ behalf. Judah was the object of his love, and over and over, his people failed him. But time and time again, God delivered his people to save his anointed one. You could say that God’s anointed one was at one point Abraham, or Moses or David. And in their time, they were, but ultimately God saved the one and only true Anointed One, even his son Jesus, as the Savior of the world.
A-pplication:
When you think about it, all of us have been called of God to be his anointed one. I have known at different times in my life a number of well-known men and women of God who truly stepped up and were God’s anointed one in the place they served. Yet, that is God’s desire for all of his people, that when needed, we would be at any moment his anointed one. But you and I both know that there is one who, if not for him, we’d all be lost without hope. I’m speaking this AM of “Jesus, God’s Anointed One.”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
I’m so grateful I can hardly write this AM as I think of what you mean to me. But I would not be so selfish as to think of me only. You are “Jesus, God’s Anointed One,” for the whole world. Without you, there would be no reason for living. Amen
