Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Psalm 92:14
They will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green.
O-bservation:
This passage in Psalms is preceded by the promise that if you stay planted in the house of the Lord, with an emphasis on STAY, things will happen to you that defy the circle and cycles of life. You will continue to bear fruit, stay fresh, and life all around you, and in you will be green which is the sign of life, even while you’re aging.
A-pplication:
I’m going to get real transparent with you for just a minute. I’m five weeks away from reaching my seventh decade of life. I don’t feel THIS OLD. The biggest challenge for me is to sit back and rest on what I’ve already done and just retire. While on the other hand, the same churning I had as a twenty-year-old is still there. It just won’t stop. Consequently, I get up and keep churning and burning for the Lord. What can I, and we, do to reach more people for Jesus on our watch? That’s always my question. I think that all day. Our mission as a couple, as a family, and as a church remains the same. It’s not that I can’t get off the treadmill; it’s that I WON’T! Why? Because I’m still breathing. If you’re still breathing, you’re still dreaming. Dreams drive you for one more attempt at the impossible. So here I am once again this AM, “Growing Green, Growing Fresh, Growing Fruit, AND, Growing Old!”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
Thank you this AM for giving me life and life to the full. With your help today, I won’t waste it! Amen
