You Owe Me!

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Job 41:11

Who has a claim against me that I must pay? Everything under heaven belongs to me.

O-bservation:

In this passage, God Almighty is still questioning Job. He was upset with Job for believing that He (God) was in any way unjust. So the Lord asked Job, “Who has a claim against me that I must pay?” That’s an interesting question, but the statement that followed the question put Job in an impossible place to try and argue against the Almighty. God said, “Everything under heaven belongs to me!” I suppose you could say that God was telling Job, “You Owe Me!”

A-pplication:

In all actuality, humans have little opportunity to question God. What if He (God) turned off the sun tomorrow? What if He destroyed all food sources tomorrow? What if He made the water run dry tomorrow? How long could we exist without heat (power), food, and water? Yet, we humans think we have a good argument for ownership of stuff for some strange reason. The truth is if God cut our access to our power, our food, and our hydration, it wouldn’t matter what we owned. He is the Maker and Giver of all things. So like I’ve said so many times in this daily devotional, we are never owners. But if we obey the Lord, He will let us be stewards of His property. And before any of us think this to be unfair, it’s true that “We Owe Him!”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

You have allowed me to steward Your property, and You have blessed me to play a minuscule part in Your vast Kingdom because of Your love for me. For this, I thank You. And by the way, I know I owe YOU! Amen
