Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
2 Chronicles 34:19
When the king heard the words of the Law, he tore his robes.
O-bservation:
The king spoken of here is Josiah. His rule followed his father, King Amon, who was assassinated by his own officials. When it happened, the people of Judah rose and put those conspirators to death. They then made Amon’s 8-year-old son Josiah the king. He was a God-fearing reformist for that which was right. When he was twenty-six years old, he sent his officials to repair the temple in Jerusalem. When they did, they found the Book of the Law, which had been lost. When Josiah’s official’s read it to him, he was convicted and then terrified and tore his clothes and repented. Why did he react so radically? It was based on “The Remarkable Foreknowledge Of Our God!”
A-pplication:
300 years earlier, the writer of 1 Kings prophesied that in time a man named Josiah would come and clean the idolatry and filth up in that place. You can see Josiah’s name mentioned in 1 Kings 13:2. Now imagine, 300 years later, this Book of the Law is found, and the men take it to King Josiah and read it to him, and he hears his name!! He ripped his clothes and begged God to forgive him. He made huge changes for the sake of righteousness in his land. Why? I believe it had to do with “The Remarkable Foreknowledge Of Our God!”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
I’m ready to be warned about things in my future that pertain to me! So is my friend who reads this right now. Please Lord, if you did it for Josiah, surely you can do it for us as well. Amen
