Unimaginable Forgiveness

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Hosea 3:3
Then I told her, you are to live with me many days; you must not be a prostitute or be intimate with any man, and I will behave the same way toward you.

O-bservation:

Hosea had been told by God sometime earlier that he was to marry Gomer, a prostitute. She was to represent the waywardness of God’s people Israel and her constant leaving of the one true God, Jehovah, in order to chase heathen gods. So he did, and he had children by Gomer, and then she left Hosea and went back to the streets to once again live the life of a harlot. Not long after, God comes to Hosea and says, “I want you to go a find your wife in the streets and bring her back to you again. He obeyed the Lord. God had told him to forgive her and move on. He said to her that she was not to live as a prostitute any long but that she was to give herself only to him and he would do the same.

A-pplication:

This story is all about “Unimaginable Forgiveness.” Think of what Hosea had to go through to bring his wayward wife back to him. He began by obeying the Lord and married Gomer, a known prostitute. They had children together, and all the while, she is trying to figure out how to get back to the streets. Finally, she breaks free of her husband Hosea to go back to the way she used to live. And she was truly entangled in her lifestyle. But God said to the prophet, “Take Gomer back so that I can show Israel that no matter what I’m willing to take her back as well.” Certainly, Hosea was still reeling from what God had told him to do originally, and now the mother of his children, who is walking the streets as a prostitute, is once again to be Hosea’s, only earthly love. He is to track her down and say, “come Home.” He did and took her unto himself. That is what the Lord has done for you and me over and over again. That’s why I call it, “Unimaginable Forgiveness.”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

I love you as my Lord and Savior this AM. There have been a few times I’ve considered throwing in the towel concerning my relationship with you because of temptation. However, this story is one of many in your Word that keeps me standing strong. Thank you for your grace. Amen
