S-cripture: Isaiah 24:23 The moon will be dismayed, the sun ashamed; for the Lord Almighty will reign on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem, and before its elders–with great glory. O-bservation: This is an obvious prophetic word from Isaiah concerning New Jerusalem. It will be the King of Kings and Lord of Lords who rules in that new heavenly place known as the New Jerusalem. It’s not so much that the light of the moon and the sun will dim or go out, as much as this is a side-by-side look at the brilliance of Jesus in comparison to the bright lights of the heavens. It causes one to ask, “How Bright Is Jesus?” A-pplication: This prophecy has to do with happenings after the Rapture. It has to do with events following the Tribulation. Finally, it occurs after the Battle of Armageddon when Jesus defeats the forces of hell itself. When John saw New Jerusalem coming down from heaven, he reported that the city has no need of the sun or the moon to bring it light because the glory of God lights the place up.
