S. O. A. P. Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional! S-cripture: 1 Samuel 9:27 As they were going down to the edge of the town, Samuel said to Saul, “Tell the servant to go on ahead of us”—and the servant did so—“but you stay here for a while, so that I may give you a message from God.” O-bservation: The day before this event, the prophet Samuel heard from the Lord that Saul, from the tribe of Benjamin, would be Israel’s first king. Samuel had Saul come for dinner that night. After dinner, Saul spent the night at Samuel’s house. At daybreak, the man of God called Saul to the rooftop, and they spoke awhile. As they headed downstairs, Samuel said to the future king, “Send your servant ahead, but you stay. I have a message from God for you!” A-pplication: I’m sure that Saul was becoming well-known before this event occurred. He was definitely a man among men. Scripture tells us he stood head and shoulders above every other Israeli soldier. Some say Saul could have been seven feet tall! So he had a natural aura about him and was a compelling figure. Whoever his servant was, I’m sure Saul accepted him as more of a friend....
