What is your definition of VICTORY? Many people are being taught that victory is when you or I get OUR will or desires. That, my friend, is not TRUE VICTORY! Victory is when God’s plan brings Him glory. Victory is when your life and your work are given completely over to Jesus. Because when that happens, God can work miracles in and through your life! Look how Paul describes our Victory in Jesus in I Corinthians: When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: “Death has been swallowed up in victory.” “Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?” The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. (1 Cor. 15:54-57) God gives us victory through Jesus. Life isn’t about us figuring it all out. Life isn’t about us trying to win. We find victory only in Jesus through God. John 11:25 says, “...

What are you “Pressing” toward today? In Philippians 3:14, the Apostle talks about pressing toward the mark or the prize. He is alluding to the white line, or mark, the runners in the Olympic games used as the finish line. In those early Olympics, same as today, the runner who crossed the line first won the prize. The prize Paul is “pressing” toward is Jesus. The word used for "press" in this verse means "strong exertion." Like a runner, Paul was physically and mentally feeling the strain of reaching for his goal. But He knew he was close. He could sense the end, and he knew he must press through the exhaustion and pain to reach his prize, the end of his race. Are you in a situation where you can see your goal, or the end of your trial, but the exhaustion and pain is creeping in and threatening to pull you off course? Now is the time for you to dig in and press on. Now is when you learn what it means to walk by faith and not by feeling. Maybe you find yourself dragging burdens, sins, or other things along. Maybe you can see the goal but forget why you...

Why is vision so important? Every year we talk about vision at Trinity. The vision for the church unites us to a common goal. Your personal vision does the same for your life. It guides you away from the past and keeps you moving toward the future God has planned for you. At one time, the people of Israel had a real problem. They had no vision for their lives—no dreams, no goals. Like us, they knew who had created them, they knew their history and they dwelled on their past, but they could not figure out where they were going. Everything in their lives was based on what they had seen and could see. The problem they faced was they did not know how to look to their future with FAITH. These people had a close relationship with God. They understood that His plan for them was great. They were His chosen people after all! Yet they still wandered around in the wilderness for forty years on a journey that should have taken about eleven days. Why? Because they had no vision. They couldn’t see beyond their past and what was happening to them right at that moment. It’s easy to judge them,...

Do you ever get stuck in the past? If we are honest with ourselves, we all do. But here’s the lesson I want to share today. God wants you to leave the past behind and press on toward the future He has waiting for you! “Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:13b-14 Dwelling on what has happened in the past gets you just about as far as worrying about what is going to happen tomorrow. God created this day for you. There are lessons to learn, victories to win, and steps you can be taking to get to that amazing future that waits for you. I read once that, “Today is the tomorrow you worried about yesterday!” Two things struck me when I read that statement. 1) How much energy do we waste worrying about tomorrow when we could be praising God for what He is doing RIGHT NOW? Look around you. Count your blessings, look for miracles (because if you look I guarantee you will start to see them), and give praise to God for how He is moving in your life. 2) NOTHING,...

“The Faithful love of the LORD never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning” (Lam. 3:22-23). Because of Jesus’ faithful love, you are already a victor! Why? Because His sacrifice allows you to fight from a position of strength, not from a position of weakness. You fight from victory—not for victory. Your position of victory was granted to you the moment Jesus cried, “it is finished" (John 19:30). The very second you accepted Jesus, you were transformed. You stepped from the darkness of sin into the shining light of Jesus’ Kingdom. That is your victory in Jesus, and that is why we fight! According to Scripture, through Jesus we are invincible against the attacks and temptations of the enemy! As it says in 2 Corinthians 4:8-9, "We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.” As a Follower of Jesus, your battle is already WON! I’m Positive!! Take these verses to heart this week: John 16:33 - “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” 1 Corinthians 15:57 - But thanks be to...
